Born in Madrid in 1971. Her childhood is marked by continuous family moves from Galicia to the Canary Islands. These transitions have helped open her up and endow her with creativity. Unable to work only in a single discipline, she works with photography, drawing, sculpture, with an interdisciplinary approach. At 16 she arrived in Seville where she studied Fine Arts, with a major in Sculpture. At this time she received a degree as a photography technician from the School of Art in Seville. She studied for 9 months in Florence with the Erasmus scholarship. Here she was steeped in Renaissance beauty and she discovered the subtle palette of Morandi. She returned to Seville with a head full of ideas. She rented first studio and started her professional creative journey in 1998 when she was selected for her first project by the Andalusian Ministry of Culture and exhibited for the first time in a gallery, La Caja China (Seville). One year later she began her work as a photography instructor at the School of Art of Seville, where she continues to work today. Since then she combines her work as an educator with her creative work. As she always says “With her head in the clouds and her feet on the earth”. In her work we find poetic brushstrokes. Cantalapierdra has always felt fascinated by images and how the world is represented by them.
For this reason, she works with the self-portrait/ self-representation. Here she speaks about identity, woman, family, and about the clouds. She invents suggestive stories with images. She uses photography, drawing and collage. For her all techniques are valid as long as they serve to capture an idea.
