The 2017 MAV Forum, organized by The Association of Women in the Visual Arts, will take place at 13 ESPACIOarte in Seville on November 9th and at Matadero Madrid on the 17th and 18th of November. Collaborating in this edition of the MAV Forum are The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, The Andalusia Institute for Women, The Andalusia Regional Government and the cultural center, Matadero Madrid.
The program for this second edition (the first MAV Forum was held in 2015) includes three round tables on the primary issues of concern for artists and professionals in the visual arts today. These are: The Construction of New Identities in Artistic Creation; Women´s Collaboration and Networking, and The Power of Women in the Art System.
In order to facilitate and activate the public debate during round tables, the forum organizers have established three working groups. These groups are composed of creators, researchers and professionals form the visual arts field. The coordinators of the groups will mark the direction of the group. This organization of the debates uses a participatory methodology in order to include the voice of people who wish to actively participate in the debate through the virtual forum. This virtual forum has been created to facilitate this participation.
The program will be completed by the presentation of exemplary projects of Best Practices in relation to creative practices, the organization of studios visits to artists’ workshops in the cities of Seville and Madrid (OpenStudio), and a thematic itinerary of reassertion and the sharing of experiences where women in the arts have been protagonists throughout history.
With the organization of this forum The Association of Women in the Visual Arts, MAV, in close and continuous collaboration with other associations, collectives and institutions, meets our objective of promoting awareness and advancing the activity of women artists, researchers and visual arts professionals from a gender perspective. We hope that the results will help women achieve a more just and equal treatment.
