CARLOS LÓPEZ GARCÍA (Madrid, 1961)

Journalist, dramatist and cinema and television screenwriter.

Professor of scriptwriting for television series at the ECAM (School of Cinematography and Audiovisual Communication, Madrid), and professor of scriptwriting in the Master of Cinema and Television and in the Master of Cinema Scripts at the University Carlos III.

He holds a degree in Information Sciences from the Universidad Complutense, Madrid. He worked for the newspaper El Sol, the magazine La Sphere and was the director of the magazine Academia de la Academia de Cine. In theater he has worked with the Deliciosa Royala, El Teatro de la A and the Provisional Dance companies.

In cinema he has co-written the screenplays for Una casa en las afueras (1995), A Private Matter (1996), Eso (1998), A tiro limpio (1997), Los años bárbaros (1998) and La niña de tus ojos (1998).  In addition, together  La Fiesta production, (founded together with screenwriters Manuel Matji and José Ángel Esteban), he produced and co-wrote Besos para todos (2000) and Horas de luz (2004), in the latter as executive producer.

In television he debuted in the series Turno de oficio, ten years later (1995) and was part of the team of scriptwriters for Las noticias del guiñol (1999-2008). He has written episodes of the series Mujeres (2005), El síndrome de Ulises (2007), Hospital Central (2012) and Ciega a citas (2014), and is credited as a script coordinator for Hay alguien hay (2009), Angel or demon (2011) and The Prince (2013-2015).  In the series 11-M (2011) and The Embassy (2016), as well as a screenwriter, he was an executive producer.

He is currently a scriptwriter and script coordinator for the Tiempos de Guerra series, prepared by Bambú Producciones for Antena 3. This is about the “Nurses Ladies” sent by the Queen to the Rif war following the Annual disaster in July 1921.

This course looks the work of the film and television scriptwriter.

At first, looking from a theoretical point of view  by analyzing the main tools the scriptwriter uses to address the telling of a story: point of view, the measure of time, the subtext …

And then, with the use of practical cases, the position of the scriptwriter within the team and within the film industry. The course also looks at the work of the screenwriter in a television series: the characteristics of the television script and the showrunner phenomenon.

An introductory course to the cinematographic script: the main tools of the scriptwriter for  approaching the telling of a story. Also the work of the scriptwriter within a production.

Primera jornada

EL GUIONISTA DE CINE: claves para contar una historia

 

EL NUCLEO DE LA HISTORIA : ¿QUÉ ESTAMOS CONTANDO?

– El concepto. Los dos planos de la historia: de qué hablamos y qué contamos

– Los peligros de una idea: clichés, conflicto, tema.

– La realidad como fuente de inspiración: credibilidad, veracidad, documentación.

La sensación de realidad para el espectador.

– La promesa de la historia: lo inevitable y lo improbable.

– La búsqueda de la emoción: qué mueve al espectador.

 

LAS HERRAMIENTAS DEL GUIONISTA

– La medida del tiempo: estructura temporal, secuenciación, elipsis, saltos en el tiempo, paralelos, contrapunto.

– El punto de vista: en el relato y en cada escena. El relato subjetivo.

– El guion como enigma: lo inefable, el subtexto.

– La información: qué necesita saber el espectador.

 

EL RITMO DEL RELATO

– Estructura interna de la secuencia: dónde empezar a contar.

– El uso de la acotación. El lenguaje del guionista.

– Introducción a la escritura de diálogos: presentación de personajes, tipos de habla, cómo contar una mentira.

– Las tramas: estructuras de capítulo y de temporada

– El manejo de la información.

 

ETAPAS DE UNA SERIE DESDE EL PUNTO DE VISTA DEL GUIONISTA

El proyecto: cómo se cuenta una serie. La venta de la idea.

– El desarrollo: la biblia, el piloto, el concepto de la serie.

– La luz verde: el diseño de la serie antes de la grabación.

• el trabajo en equipo, el coordinador de guion: la sala de guion

• tipos de equipo de guion: contratos y derechos

• los mapas de tramas, la relación con la cadena

• para quién escribimos: productores, lectores, ejecutivos

• el formato de la serie: decorados, reparto, tono, estructura

– La grabación: relación entre guion y equipo. Las lecturas, el guionista de plató, las reescrituras.

– La emisión: cómo afectan a la escritura la medición de audiencias y las plataformas de internet
