Anna Jonsson was born in Skellefteå (Sweden) in 1961 and has been resident in Seville since 1982 where she came to study Fine Arts. Since then she has become an artist with a strong attachment to our city. It is in Seville that she has developed her career and granted us works in our urban spaces. In 2007 she gave us the sculpture in La Plaza de la Pescadería, her homage to Clara Campoamor, the famous politician and feminist best known for her advocacy for women’s rights and suffrage during the writing of the Spanish constitution of 1931.
Anna is a multidisciplinary artist, but sculpture has formed the basis for all her work. This has been the driving force in which she has developed and amplified over the years her very personal oeuvre, from sculptures to audio-visual creations. It is especially in the field of video creation that she has cemented the production of performing art and dance. The works shown and represented in galleries and fairs endorse her trajectory
During the 90’s her work was centred on sculptural creation; from the beginning of 2000 she started to connect with the dance world. Through her audio-visual work she expands her own particular universe and, with her videos and in dance performances, has started what will become a productive collaboration with the contemporary dance world.
